Program Overview

History

Situated in Northern California, Sierra Ridge Treatment Center has a history of helping youth that spans nearly a century.

Sierra Ridge Treatment Center, formerly Fricot City, was named after its founder Jules Fricot. Fricot purchased and developed the land in the 1850s, not only for the gold in the foothills, but also for the spectacular views, wildlife and spacious living.

When Fricot’s son, Desire, moved to Fricot City during the 1890s,  provided employment and housing for local residents. As a philanthropist, humanitarian conservationist and friend to youth in the area, Desire promoted the Boy Scouts organization and when he died, his request that Fricot City become a place to educate less than fortunate children was honored.

After Desire Fricot, the site was leased to the state-run California Youth Authority in the 1940s, and then to a series of private owners. Finally, in 1999, Rite of Passage acquired the property and founded Sierra Ridge Academy.

Today, Sierra Ridge Treatment Center is an Integrated Care Model Program that utilizes evidence-based modalities to provide trauma responsive services to to youth.

INTEGRATED CARE MODEL

In order to deliver the most effective trauma-responsive program, Sierra Ridge Treatment Center utilizes evidence-based interventions including a strengths-based approach, positive child development, social learning theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and other trauma-responsive approaches. Our program framework is defined as the Integrated Care Model™.

Foundation of Safety
When a youth is first referred to our program, the Treatment Team Committee works to identify interventions that will be most effective to provide the youth with a foundation of physical, psychological and emotional safety when they arrive to the program. Establishing safety is accomplished through caring relationships fostered between staff and youth.

Understanding Needs & Strengths
We use nationally-recognized, evidence-based intake assessments to develop an Assessment Summary that evaluates each youth’s individual strengths, specific needs, and pressing vulnerabilities. This information is used to develop the individual treatment plan, which will prescribe targeted services and interventions to address the youth’s unique risks and needs.

Goal Attainment
Once treatment goals are met, new goals are established and the process of positive change is moved forward. We positively reinforce goal attainment by celebrating every youth success.
